Why Choose Nixon Reeves Building and Joinery Contractors
Choosing a company to carry out work on your property can be a very difficult and sometimes a daunting task, especially if you have no recommendations from friends or colleagues who have had work done themselves.
We know that we run our business with integrity and that we have high ethical and moral business beliefs but you may not know anything about us. However, being an approved contractor with TrustMark and a member of the National Federation of Builders, you can rest assured that we are required to meet certain criteria and are checked and assessed in various aspects, all of which go to corroborate what we say we do.
Please take the time to read the information below about the two schemes to learn more about the criteria.
About TrustMark
TrustMark is here to help you.
It's a new initiative between Government, consumer groups and industry designed to help you find a reputable firm to do repairs, maintenance and improvement work in your home or garden. The intention of the TrustMark scheme, which was launched in January 2006, is to provide consumers with names of professional and high quality tradesman and to eliminate the rogue traders who have for so long blighted our industry.
Only approved scheme operators are allowed to award the TrustMark to registered firms. When a firm displays the TrustMark logo it
signifies that:
-
The approved scheme operator (in our case AJA Registrars) has carried out basic checks on the firm's technical competence, trading record and creditworthiness;
-
The firm has signed up to an appropriate code of practice that includes mandatory insurance, good health and safety practices and proper dealing with customers;
-
Its quality of work, trading practices and customer satisfaction are checked and monitored;
-
The firm will make sure customers are aware of any building regulations issues and, in many cases, may be able to provide a certification of compliance that means customers don't need to involve building control;
-
If customers have a problem or disagreement with a registered firm, the approved scheme operator will investigate where appropriate and try to resolve the issue;
-
If the firm does not provide insurance cover automatically customers will have the option to buy a warranty covering the possibility of it going out of business.
Our TrustMark certificate number is AJA0606/1161.

About the National Federation of Builders (NFB)
Member companies have to satisfy what the NFB believes to be the most stringent entrance criteria for any building trade association. Companies must provide references from accountants, previous clients, suppliers and professionals such as architects and surveyors.
All references are followed up and, if satisfactory, applications are then put before a panel of existing members, who are local to the potential new member, for assessment.
All member companies must be VAT registered (if applicable) and CITB registered.
Only if the panel is satisfied with the company's technical competence, health and safety standards and financial probity is the company admitted into membership. The Federation also requires member companies to adhere to a stringent Code of Conduct governing their relationship with clients.
Our NFB Membership number is CO0003057.
